It came as a revelation to me that we as
individuals are truly responsible for creating our own realities and capable of attracting whatever prosperity
and happiness we desire.
Prior to this, I shared the common misconception that a particular job, "the
economy," fate, luck, or "circumstances beyond my control," in some way had the power to control and limit me. I
now see that, in the words of Bob Marley, "only ourselves can free our minds."
I see two schools of success thinking. One school stresses the determination,
goals, time management, and hard work that can produce success. The other stresses the psychological traits of
belief in oneself and in the abundance of the universe, finding ones passion in life, attracting the things we
desire through affirmations and visualization, etc.
I am trying my best to learn from both schools.
As an artist, I see that I have been hampered by my belief that "art is a tough
profession to make money in." I'm now determined to break through this limiting belief.
The point is, our beliefs do largely determine our results in life. Now that I
see this I am being much more careful about what I let myself believe.
However you look at things, the ability and courage to change is needed if our
external realities are to change. This isn't easy because we all tend to get "stuck" in our ruts, and we resist
change because any change, even one for the better, is a little frightening. But I believe it is worth it. If we
can make positive change an everyday part of our lives, then miracles can and will happen.
